I Brag On You, He Brags On Me

Mr. and Mrs. So and so were able to get the house, My kid made the honor roll, Mary volunteers at the community center, Paul helped someone whose car broke down on the side of the road, My neighbor comes and cuts my grass, That couple is engaged, They’re expecting their first baby.

Throughout the Bible we can hear God brag on His children.  Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  1 Kings 3:10 The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.  Job 2:3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.”  Daniel 6: 22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”  Matthew 3:17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

How many times a day do you brag on someone?  I know that there can be days where it is hard to see the good in people.  Their attitude is bad for some reason, or maybe it is yours that is bad.  But generally, on any given day, with everyone you see, you can find something that they say all the time, or do all the time, that is helpful or good to others.  Helpful  and good enough to brag to others.  The thing is, it doesn’t have to be something grand or super special, although those are nice to hear.  No, it can be a small thing like someone saving a seat for someone, or opening a door.

Here is a question for you.  When you brag on a person, don’t you feel happy?  You’re not the one doing the good deed, but you do get to reap a reward when you spread the word around about it.  Yes, we must be careful and not allow false pride to slip in when we are speaking about loved ones like our children.  But when you see a person do anything because it’s the right thing to do or because they feel called to do it, there is a genuine reason to brag about them.  And you do get to be blessed within your spirit when doing so.

Here is another question for you.  Do you think God brags about you? When He looks at you, are you giving Him reasons to say , “Look at my child, I am pleased with them.”  Or maybe you think that God only did that in Biblical days.  Really!?!  Lets look at that a little.  When a child does something good in the eyes around him, we tell all who will listen.  Then what do we do?  We reward them for doing the right thing.  Well then, are you not receiving rewards of blessings when you do something good in the eyes of God?  When we give good sacrifices it brings a sweet aroma to God.  It pleases Him.  The angels watch us with amazement.  For God has told them of us and about us.  He does not group you .  For He listens to every prayer individually, and answers them accordingly.  Why then would He not brag on you and reward you the same?  Listen, when God is pleased with you, your name goes throughout all the heavens for all to hear.  And those whose hear His voice get pleased and blessed by it as well.

I have a habit that I want to keep forever.  As much as I love to brag on my kids, what I love even more is the chances I get to brag on God.  Whenever I can.  I get filled when I get to tell others what he has done in my life.  How he has changed me for the better.  The wonderful gifts that He has felt gracious enough to give me.  Bragging can be a wonderful thing, when you brag on the right people, for the right reasons.  So test yourself and see just how many rewards you gather when you brag.
